Institutions form the backbone of our communities. They teach our children, provide places to meet others with common values, and foster social change. Because these are lofty responsibilities, it's important that your physical environment capture the spirit and vision of your organization and inspire all who work and visit there. Studio CrowleyHall can help you do these things while acting sustainably, responsibly, and creatively.
Studio CrowleyHall specializes in the design of institutions, ranging from small non-profits and religious organizations to the largest colleges and universities. We help community-focused organizations explore their needs and options, renovate and expand their facilities, build new facilities, and integrate custom features into their buildings.
Our specific services include:
Has your organization outgrown its current home? Should you add to your existing facility or start over from scratch? Maybe your current facility is the right size, but it needs to be reworked to better accommodate a change in program. Whatever your situation, our Feasibility Analysis service may be right for you.
During our Feasibility Analysis project, we'll help you identify the essence and spirit of your organization, and provide options for how to embody these things in your physical environment. We'll work with you and your Board of Directors to explore your organization's needs, we'll determine the exact spaces that fit these needs, and we'll recommend options for how you might renovate your existing facility or build a new one. We can also help you assess existing buildings, determine whether your project should be done in stages, and assist in getting the support of your neighbors and community.
Whether you're a small non-profit struggling for recognition or an established religious facility trying to accommodate a growing following, Studio CrowleyHall can help you. We understand the complexities of institutional clients. We know that your decisions must take into account a diverse group of people including users, administrators, and donors—all approaching the project with different priorities. We'll work with you to identify and organize these often conflicting objectives, synthesize the needs and wishes of the group, and help determine the best path for your organization to take.
Renovations and Additions
Studio CrowleyHall understands the complexities of changing your physical surroundings while maintaining a functional work environment. We know what you need and how to help get you there.
Our collaborative process will ensure that your ideas and goals are reflected in the designs we create. We'll start by doing an in-depth analysis of your property, including precise measuring of the areas to be affected so that we may create accurate drawings of existing conditions. We may also work with engineering consultants to evaluate existing systems, such as mechanical, electrical, and plumbing. Simultaneously, we'll work hand-in-hand with you to establish and prioritize a list of needs for your space to ensure that our design solutions address all of your organization's current and future growth plans.
Once a design for your organization is established, we will provide detailed technical drawings that we can use to identify and hire a building contractor, to obtain regulatory permits and to construct the building. When construction begins, we'll oversee the process to ensure that our design intent is accurately carried out. We'll make sure that you understand what is going on and what input is required from you as we proceed.
Whether you're moving a few walls to improve circulation, upgrading finishes for a fresh new look, or adding on to accommodate new services, you can leave the worrying to us. Throughout the project, we'll be with you every step of the way—ensuring the process goes smoothly and taking care of the details so that you may focus on the running of your organization.
If you decide to build a new facility for your organization, we can help. We understand how overwhelming it can be to manage all the elements that must be considered when building from scratch. Studio CrowleyHall knows what to do and will help ensure everything goes smoothly and efficiently.
During our New Construction project, we'll start by establishing exactly what your organization needs from your new building and how to prioritize this list of needs. From there, we can help you locate the right property on which to build, if you don't already have it in your possession. Once the property is secured, we can evaluate how to best use it to fit your organization's needs—considering things such as building location, site access points, and roads, as well as environmental factors such as wind direction, sun angles, and views. Using this information, we'll create a master plan—drawings showing new design alternatives (including buildings, roads and landscape features such as swimming pools and gardens) which incorporate existing site elements that are to remain.
Once an option is selected, we'll begin to design specific buildings, using the master plan to guide us as we delve into the details. During this phase, we will integrate your functional needs and aesthetic goals with the structural, zoning and building code requirements and construction method options, developing the beginnings of an architecture that reflects who you are. And whatever your priorities—cost, functionality or beauty—we'll develop a design solution that is tailored to your exact needs.
When the design phase is complete, we'll develop detailed technical drawings which accurately describe the design and technical quality of the building. These can be used to identify and hire a building contractor, obtain regulatory permits, and ultimately, to construct the building. If you need to appear before design or zoning review boards, we'll develop the presentation necessary to get the approval we need. Once construction begins, we'll oversee the process to ensure that the design intent is accurately carried through to final completion of the building.
During a New Construction project with Studio CrowleyHall, you can rest assured that your new building will be exactly what you've dreamed it would be...
